3D High Polygon Game Asset
Chameleon 3D Sculpt

The purpose of this project was to gain more hands on experience sculpting high poly characters and the workflow involved in creating a stunning game ready asset for next-gen systems. This model was created to be used on any platform from mobile to realistic rendering with a full skeleton to allow animation and posing.
The first step to this project was modeling the base or low poly mesh in Maya. After the UV's were laid out the high detailed sculpting began in Mudbox. Once the final High polygon model was sculpted I began to hand paint the diffuse texture in Mudbox where I finally exported the high polygon mesh and textures I had created.
The next step was to re-topoligize the low polygon model to properly fit the new high detailed mesh. Once completed I used xNormal to bake out my texture maps and Photoshop to finalize the details in the textures and fix any baking errors. Finally I set up a skeletal rig and bound the chameleon mesh to the rig to allow for full animation or posture changes. For rendering I used Maya with the help of a proper material setup with some lights and HDR global illumination I achieved very pleasing results as seen above.
