About the simulation
The scope of the project has changed dramatically since the beginning as I was just attempting to model a realistic wine glass and ended up learning how to utilize Realflow fluid simulations. The wine glass itself was designed and built using maya nurbs and the EP curve tool. Using the rotational tools in maya I was able to create a perfect wine glass model and convert the surfaces to polygons. The next process was to develop a realistic glass texture for high quality production rendering. Using online tutorials and help i was able to create a satisfyingly realistic result. The last remaining step in maya was to keyframe the animation sequence and export the scene to RealFlow.
Once in Realflow the process of setting up the environment and dynamics to dictate the fluids behavior begins. Once all the paramaters have been placed the simulation can begin and the wait times begin. After simulating the fluid the last step is to generate a static mesh from your previous results. The last step is to import the mesh sequence back into Maya and assign a realistic wine material and begin the rendering process.
